June ... in the yellow garden

It's been a crazy busy week with lots of focus on website issues so no time for anything crafty.

I'm probably one of the very few people in the province who were actually happy to have a week of rain - as I didn't have time to be outside. And the garden is happy too ... it was getting a little dry.

So, before I take the evening off to answer the purple beads that have been calling to me, I thought we'd have a stroll through the garden.

Things definitely feel a little behind schedule, but we are currently in the early yellow phase.

Evening primrose, Yellow loosestrife, ground seedum and Ladies Mantle are all flowering yellow at the moment.

And ... to break things up ... just a hint of pinky purple.

Fruit Gum Tribal?

These are some of my new beads from yesterday's adventure. These multi-coloured "resin" beads are something I haven't seen before and I really like them. Don't they look yummy? They remind me of large fruit gums.

To the Bead Store ....

This is my craft room. No, I'm only kidding ... but after today it's not far behind ;)

Lynn took me out for my birthday today, and as always with Lynn I had a lovely day. And as always with Lynn, there was a crafty element. And as always with Lynn, I got a little carried away. But hey, it was my first ever trip to an actual "bead store" so there was very little chance that I wouldn't - and it was great fun!

In looking at the picture now I see many things that I didn't notice in the store and I know that there were oodles of things that I didn't really take in because it is just overwhelming. Colours! Shiny! Magic Beads! So much better than a candy store for this kid.

And considering this is about a one and half minute walk away from the bead shop - could be one of my new favourite places.

Remarkably this end of the beach is not jam packed on this beautiful day. And it's farther away from the smoke stacks - seems odd, but good to know!

Ms. Lynn of course has already worked up many of the beads she bought - done and dusted - YES before she even got home - the cheek. Me ... I'm off to ponder for days and days ... and I just mean where to put them all ;)

At least my way ... there's a lot more anticipation. Ooooh, anticipation.

Thanks again Lynn! I was going to post links to the gorgeous scarf and socks that you made me - but you are far too prolific for me to find them - I shall have to take a picture to show my Grandma and Auntie Carole.

Butterfly & Turquoise

Time for happier things ... two of my favourite things; butterflies and the colour turquoise. I've always loved butterflies.

In Memory of Marley

It was a very sad good-bye last week. We love you and will miss you so much Marley. Thank-you for looking after us for all these years and for all the happy memories.

In Memory

They will not go quietly,
the cats who've shared our lives.
In subtle ways they let us know
their spirit still survives.

Old habits still make us think
we hear a meow at the door.
Or step back when we drop
a tasty morsel on the floor.

Our feet still go around the place
the food dish used to be.
And, somtimes, coming home at night,
we miss them terribly.

And although time may bring new friends
and a new food dish to fill,
that one place in our hearts
belongs to them ...
and always will.

We love you baby xoxo

Antique Earrings in the Garden

It's just sooo nice outside today that I couldn't resist turning a project into an outside project - so I experimented with photographing some new earrings in the back garden. Definitely a concept to play with - perhaps next time when there aren't such heavy gusts of wind.
